Submarine Ventilation Hatch Houses
A stopgap product redesigned through successive engineering changes into something purpose-fit.
These are jobs HPS Fabrications has actually delivered: Navy hatch houses and brows, one of the largest shiploading stations in the world, molten salt bath systems up to 100 feet long, and stadium handrail. Each page says what the problem was, what we engineered, and what was built.

Case studies
Defense
A stopgap product redesigned through successive engineering changes into something purpose-fit.
Defense
Ship-to-shore access for the Navy, including Ohio class work. We build a lot of these.
Defense
The temporary watertight structure that makes submarine escape trunk work possible.
Defense
Maintenance platform stands for rotary-wing aircraft servicing.
Defense
A powered platform that raises and lowers for servicing large aircraft. Not a stand, a machine.
Bulk material handling
Port and shiploading equipment, including one of the largest shiploading stations in the world, in Latvia.
Industrial
Hundreds built over thirty years. The largest runs 100 feet long and 20 feet on each side.
Bulk material handling
A mile of enclosed conveyor, rebuilt one segment a year while the plant keeps running.
Commercial
Handrail for Ford Field and Comerica Park, where every joint sits at eye level.
Commercial
Fixed, removable and sleeved bollards, fabricated and coated in house.
Government
A wedge that stops a tracked dock crane creeping. Built as a repeat production run.
Industrial
We build our own fixture tables. We will build yours.
Defense
Twelve-cradle sets that support the whole T-38 Talon fuselage during refurbishment, for the US Air Force.
Every page below is a real job. Where the engineering was the hard part, it says so; where the scale was, it says that instead.
We have also delivered maintenance stands used across the Army’s entire helicopter fleet.
We also fabricated the upper lifting beam for the Hungry Horse Dam, and have built clarifier systems, conveyor systems, industrial furnace equipment and RDF feed equipment.
Read a few of these and the same thing keeps happening: the customer arrived with a problem rather than a finished drawing package, and the engineering came before the fabrication.
That is design-build, and it is the reason these jobs came to HPS rather than to a build-to-print shop.
Common questions
That is what these pages are for. Each one says what the problem was, what was engineered and what was built. If nothing here matches your job, describe it and ask.
They are real, delivered jobs. If nothing here matches what you're building, describe it and we'll tell you directly whether we can help.
Yes. Licensed professional engineers are on staff, in mechanical, electrical and structural disciplines, and several of these projects were engineered here before they were built here.
Send a print or describe the problem. Either is enough to get a real answer.
