HH-60 Aircraft Maintenance Stand

HPS Fabrications builds maintenance platform stands that give technicians safe working access to HH-60 helicopters. Access equipment carries people rather than product, which raises the standard: it has to fit the airframe closely, be stable under moving load, and never contact the aircraft.

Equipment that carries people

A maintenance stand is a working platform around a specific aircraft. Technicians stand on it, carry tools onto it, and work above ground from it for hours.

The load is people and it moves. That changes the design problem: stability matters as much as capacity, and every edge, gap and surface is a hazard until it is designed not to be.

Fitting a particular airframe

A general-purpose scaffold does not work around a helicopter. The stand has to follow the contour of the aircraft closely enough that technicians can reach the work, while never touching the airframe.

Close but never contacting is a geometry problem, and it is solved by modelling the stand against the aircraft rather than by adjusting it on the flight line.

What we design for

  • Live load that moves: people and tools, not a static mass
  • Stability: the stand must not shift or tip as load moves across it
  • Reach without contact: access to the work, clearance from the aircraft
  • Repositioning: it has to be moved into place by people, repeatedly
  • The service environment: often outdoors, and it lives outdoors

How it is built

Structural fabrication and welding by certified fabricators, retested on a regular schedule. Welds inspected in process rather than only at completion: on a structure people stand on, that ordering matters.

Coated in our own paint booth for equipment that lives outdoors.

Also in this family

HPS builds maintenance stands for the Army’s helicopter fleet, a cradle system for the T-38 Talon, and the escape trunk cofferdam for Navy submarine work. Support and access equipment is a recurring line of business, and repeat orders come from bases that have used the equipment.

Common questions

HH-60 Aircraft Maintenance Stand: questions buyers ask

Can you build stands for other airframes?

Yes. Tell us the aircraft, the access points and the working heights. We have also built maintenance stands for the Army's helicopter fleet.

Are these engineered or built to print?

Either. If you have a drawing package we will build to it; if you have a maintenance problem and no drawings, our licensed PEs will design the stand.

Do they arrive finished?

Yes. Fabrication, assembly and coating are all in house, including our own paint booth.

Talk to us about a defense project.

Send a print or describe the problem. Either works.
