Capabilities

HPS Fabrications takes a job from concept to installed equipment without leaving our own organization: engineering, cutting, forming, welding, machining, assembly and coating. We cut carbon steel, stainless, aluminum and alloys from 16 gauge to 2.5 inches, and build heavier sections up from plate. If you can describe the part, we can almost certainly make it.

Processes

Choose a process

Design-Build Engineering

HPS Fabrications designs the part as well as builds it. Licensed professional engineers work in the same building as the fabricators who cut and weld, so a customer can arrive with a goal instead of a drawing. If you know what the equipment has to do but not yet what it looks like, we can quote that.

Laser Cutting

Clean, accurate profiles in sheet and lighter plate. Send a DXF or STEP and we will tell you whether laser is the right process.

Waterjet Cutting

A cold process: no heat-affected zone, no change to the metal at the cut edge. For parts that cannot tolerate heat.

CNC Plasma Cutting

Fast on heavier plate, and the workhorse behind most structural and weldment jobs that come through the shop.

Structural Steel Fabrication

Weldments and structures built on fixture tables we designed ourselves, under roughly 100 feet of bay and a gantry crane.

Rapid Prototyping

A problem in, an engineered and built prototype out, ready to evaluate against other bidders.

Finishing and Coating

A large paint booth at our second facility, so a finished assembly never leaves our control to be coated by someone else.

The equipment, named

  • Cutting. Laser, waterjet, CNC and plasma.
  • Forming. Press brake and shear.
  • Machining. Bridgeport mill, drill press, tubing notcher.
  • Fixturing. Fixture tables we designed and built ourselves.
  • Lifting. Roughly 100 feet of bay length under a gantry crane.
  • Finishing. A large paint booth at our second facility.

The full lifecycle, in one organization

Concept. Design. Fabrication. Assembly. Installation. Field support. Most fabricators cover the middle of that list and subcontract the ends. Every handoff between companies is a place for cost, schedule and quality to slip, so we do all of it.

If you are not sure which process you need, describe the part and we will route it.

Cutting range: 16 gauge to 2.5 inches, across our cutting processes as a whole. The top end is our plasma table. It is a cutting figure, not a fabrication limit: heavier sections are built up by welding plate together, and we have built assemblies with walls 6 inches thick. If your part sits near either end, send the drawing and we will tell you which process suits it.

Common questions

Questions buyers ask

Can you do the whole job, or only part of it?

The whole job. Engineering, cutting, forming, welding, machining, assembly and coating all happen inside HPS. The lifecycle runs concept, design, fabrication, assembly and installation, with field support.

What materials and thicknesses do you cut?

Carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and alloys, from 16 gauge to 2.5 inches across laser, waterjet, CNC and plasma cutting. The top end is our plasma table; it is not a limit on what we fabricate.

Which cutting process should I ask for?

Tell us the part and we will tell you. Laser for clean accurate profiles in sheet and lighter plate, waterjet where the part cannot tolerate heat, plasma for heavier plate and volume. We own all three, so we have no reason to steer you wrong.

Do I need finished drawings?

No. Licensed professional engineers are on staff, so a requirement is enough to start. If you do have a full drawing package we will quote build-to-print.

How large a part can you handle?

The main bay in Wyandotte runs roughly 100 feet under a gantry crane. Larger equipment is fabricated in segments engineered to align on assembly.
