Bollard Systems

HPS Fabrications fabricates and finishes bollard systems for perimeter protection: fixed, removable and sleeved bollards for campuses, retail frontages, loading docks and industrial sites. They are made, coated and shipped from our own facilities, so the finish on the last one matches the first.

Perimeter protection that has to look deliberate

A bollard does two jobs at once. It has to absorb an impact, and it has to look like it belongs to the building it protects. Those pull in opposite directions, which is why so many installations end up as a mismatched row.

We fabricate them, we coat them in our own booth, and we ship them as a set. The tenth one matches the first because the same shop made both.

Fixed, removable, sleeved

  • Fixed: set in concrete, the strongest and the cheapest, for an opening that never needs to open
  • Removable: lifted out with a key or a lock for deliveries, fire access or events
  • Sleeved: a structural core with a decorative cover, so a damaged cover is replaced rather than the whole installation

Repeat work welcome

Bollards are the kind of part a property group or a contractor orders again and again. That is deliberately the sort of work we are set up for. More on production and repeat manufacturing.

What decides a bollard specification

  • What it has to stop A bollard protecting a gas meter from a reversing van is a different object from one defining a walkway.
  • Whether the opening must open Removable and sleeved versions exist for deliveries, fire access and events. Deciding this after the concrete is poured is expensive.
  • The finish and the exposure Salt, plough damage and sunlight all attack a coating differently. Ours are coated in our own booth.
  • How many, and how often A repeat order should get cheaper and more consistent, not merely re-quoted.

Common questions

Bollard Systems: questions buyers ask

What kinds of bollards do you build?

Fixed, removable and sleeved, plain or with a decorative cover, in carbon steel or stainless. The right one depends on whether the opening ever has to be used by a vehicle.

Can you match an existing installation?

Usually. Send a photograph and a measurement of what is already there and we will quote a match rather than a near miss.

Do you install them?

We fabricate, coat and deliver. Installation is typically done by the site contractor, and we will supply the drawings and the embed detail they need.

Is this a one-off or a repeat order?

Either. A frontage is usually a batch, and a property group ordering the same bollard for site after site is exactly the repeat work we want.
